Morpho Touch machine gets thumbs up

Cape Town metro police are full of praise for technology that is helping to nab criminals.

During a roadblock in Camps Bay at the weekend, a suspect wanted for theft was arrested after his thumb print had a positive match on the Morpho Touch machine.

The device stores the profiles of wanted suspects and convicted criminals making it easy for police to track them down.

Cape Town metro police Deputy Chief Yolanda Faro said they have arrested about 30 suspects using the machine since the beginning of this year.

“If you have cases or if you maybe were released on bail and you did not attend court you will be loaded on the machine. If you are a wanted suspect it will also register,” said Faro.
