Camps Bay Neighbourhood - Up To Date

Camps Bay Charity Gala Event

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended, sponsored, donated money, gave (or bought!) auction prizes or otherwise supported the Charity Gala Evening organised by the Camps Bay Business Forum at the Bay Hotel's Rotunda last Tuesday 22 November.

There are too many local businesses and residents, as well as many other corporate sponsors and "friends of Camps Bay" for us to thank individually here. It was however wonderful to witness such a fabulous coming together of the wider Camps Bay community in this very powerful, charitable and entertaining way. We have had lots of very positive feedback from those who attended the Gala, with many thrilled by the quality of the food, drinks and entertainment, all of which created a really fun and very "Camps Bay style" extravaganza shared with so many good friends and business contacts.

But of course what the Gala was really all about was raising funds to secure a new field worker programme in association with the Haven Shelter home and other role players to assist the homeless and needy of Camps Bay. We also set out as you know to raise funds to help the CBCSI introduce two additional police officers who will be dedicated to patrolling Camps Bay beachfront for the good of all residents, businesses and our many visitors.

We are still busy tallying the final totals and following up on pledges of support, with new donations coming in every day. However we are delighted to announce that we already anticipate the Gala will generate a total of well over R200,000 which will be donated to the fieldwork and security initiatives. These initiatives are already now actively being rolled out and hopefully should both be up and running fully over the coming week or two!

We really hope you all agree that the Charity Gala evening should become a major annual Camps Bay fundraising event. We believe this can only get bigger, better and raise even more money for good causes with wider community participation and as we learn from the experiences of planning this year's successful first event.

Thanks again so much and best wishes
