Camps Bay Neighbourhood - Up To Date

About Camps Bay Watch

About Camps Bay Watch

Hello and welcome to Camps Bay Watch (CBW)

I started CBW officially in February 2008 as an anti-crime initiative under the auspices of the Camps Bay Community Police Forum, registerd with the Department of Community Safety (DOCS) and the local SAPS, so that as a recognised body we could partner with existing policing bodies and law enforcement agencies to assist in combatting the ever spiralling crime situation.

The concept - simple and effective - only we can ultimately be responsible for our own safety & security - so instead of moaning and trying to look for quick fix solutions, or hire more security companies that cannot be everywhere all of the time (unless of course we post manpower in every street - impractical and unnafordable) - we take responsibility and become active in being thousands of eyes and ears covering every street - effectively directing whatever response service necessary directly to the source of the problem in real time.

However, over and above having a tremendous impact on crime (over 60 arrests to date directly linked to CBW)we are also a public organisation that has and will continue to change the way residents of Camps Bay co-exist and interact in order to claim back our neighbourhood and restore a cleaner, safer and better functioning suburb for all.

We have unified estranged or unfamiliar neighbours and embraced the greater family spirit to enable residents to have a voice and stand as one - not only in the fight against crime - but also in every aspect of safety and security as well as cleansing and other council related services that affect our daily lives and this beautiful piece of our country we call home.

Thank you for your interest and look forward to having you onboard - remember - a safer community is everyone's responsibility.

regards

Bernard Schäfer

Mr -
Dear Bernard

Most impressed with this initiative. Now living in the UK
But formally lived in The Meadows / Glen Side. Currently here on
Holiday and leaving Thursday - we have been staying in
Camps Bay for 2 weeks. We left in 2001 and feel that the Bay is
Far more harmonious than when we left so no doubt your
Efforts will have contributed tremendously

We'll be back next year for sure supporting local trade,
Restaurants etc
